Moving
onward and upward
Whether its
that baby step from kindergarten to first grade or
walking down the aisle to receive a college degree,
it’s that time of year when parents proudly watch
their children graduate. The Greater Southern Dutchess
Chamber of Commerce held its annual Nussbickel Scholarship
Award Dinner at Fishkill’s Holiday Inn Wednesday
evening, June 5. Students from Beacon, Wappingers and
Arlington school districts were selected to receive
$2,000 each towards the college of their choice. The
scholarship was named for the late Rita and Norman
Nussbickel, both active members of the greater southern
Dutchess community. Their son, Wayne Nussbickel, owner
of N&S Supply, said, “We received many applications
and chose students whose backgrounds were the most
well rounded — not just scholastic achievers,
but also involved in athletics and who were active
in community service.” Some of the guests and
graduates are pictured.
