Credits Clients Awards

 

TOM MCLAUGHLIN of Brewster received the 2008 New Principal of the Year Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC) a professional organization representing engineering companies throughout the state. The award is presented to ACEC members of less than five years who have made significant contributions in ideas and services to the consulting engineering community.


OPTIMUS ARCHITECTURE of Rhinebeck was selected to design a new family health center for Glens Falls Hospital at Route 29, Greenwich. Construction was awarded to MLB Construction Services of Malta. Optimus bid the project, securing the construction for 10 percent below budget. The facility is 23,000 square feet and is to include family care, physical therapy, specialty care, oncology and imaging for about $4 million, including all site work. The project will open for health care services February 2009.


PHELPS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL in Sleepy Hollow, a not-for-profit acute care center, presented the following awards.

CHERYL BURKE of Mahopac received the 2008 Nurse of Distinction award, the hospital’s highest annual nursing award. She has worked as a clinical nurse specialist in the medical and surgical unit at Phelps since 2005 and serves on the stroke team.

KATHLEEN SCHERF of Sparkill was one of 50 nurses to receive the 2008 Excellence in Nursing Award from Hudson Valley magazine, Poughkeepsie. This annual award recognizes nurses who demonstrate excellence, commitment to their communities and have achieved a degree professionalism in their careers.

BRENDA ROSAS of Newburgh was awarded the John D. Garrison Memorial Scholarship through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan by Walden Savings Bank, a nonprofit public charity created to help individuals, organizations and businesses establish charitable endowments within their community. The award honors John. D. Garrison, who served as president. Scholarship recipients were chosen based on character, community involvement and a decision to study business or finance in college.


THE DUTCHESS COUNTY REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE in Poughkeepsie is holding a special open enrollment for any of its chamber group options throughout the month of June. The open enrollment applies to current members enrolled in one of the health plans who would like to switch to another plan and members who missed the annual open enrollment. ULSTER SAVINGS BANK, headquartered in Kingston, opened its newest branch at 62 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock. The new bank branch is 3,400 square feet. Visitors to the branch can register through June 30 to win a 42-inch high definition TV. There is no account relationship required to enter.

Newsmakers

 

CHAD AGRAWAL of West Nyack was elected by his fellow students to be the student representative to the SUNY Rockland Community College Board of Trustees for the 2008-2009 academic year. An early admissions student, 18-year-old Agrawal, from Clarkstown High School South, is the vice president of the speech and debate team, a Beacon Scholar and is actively involved in the student activities board. He is studying business, finance and economics.


MARY ANN ANDERSON of New City was appointed vice president of patient-care services and chief nursing officer at Nyack Hospital in Nyack. Most recently, she was director of nursing, informatics and quality at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Prior to that, she was the director of nursing and clinical systems at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C., and assistant vice president at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, N.J. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Rutgers University and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Wagner College.


MARTIN HERSCH of Liberty, an attorney specializing in elder law, estate and disability planning was appointed to the Professional Advisors Council of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan in Montgomery. The Professional Advisors Council encourages awareness among attorneys, financial planners and trust officers about charitable giving as part of an estate or wealth management plan.


DR. LEWIS KOHL of North Salem was appointed vice president of medical affairs at Putnam Hospital Center, a nonprofit acute-care facility in Carmel. Most recently, he served as director of clinical informatics, medical director of emergency medical services and chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Long Island College Hospital. He holds a medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.


DOMENICA K. MILLER of Stormville was appointed Fishkill and New Windsor branch manager at TEG Federal Credit Union, a full-service financial institution serving Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties. Most recently, she was branch manager and vice president at the Poughkeepsie Plaza branch of JP Morgan Chase bank. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Mercy College.


DR. MARC TACK of Kingston was appointed director of infectious diseases, overseeing areas of employee health at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He holds a medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.


RAMON L. SANCHEZ of Stony Point was appointed vice president and relationship manager for Hudson Valley Bank in Yonkers. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Connecticut.


DR. JAMES SCHIFFER of Michigan was appointed dean of the college of liberal arts and sciences at SUNY New Paltz. He is a professor and head of the department of English at Northern Michigan University, a public comprehensive college in Marquette and will commence his position at SUNY New Paltz mid-July.


BENJAMIN SNOW of Milton, Conn., was appointed director of business development, eastern region, at Martino Flynn L.L.C., a Rochester-based marketing communications agency that deals with advertising, public relations and digital media firms. Prior to joining Martino Flynn, he ran a consulting firm in Las Vegas, specializing in marketing solutions for start-up companies and sports and entertainment companies.


JUDY WILLIAMS of New Windsor joined the Orange County Citizens Foundation, a membership-based, independent public-policy organization advocating for the greater public good in Orange County located in Sugar Loaf, as community development director. Formerly, she served as director of public relations and marketing for McQuade Children’s Services in New Windsor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from SUNY Geneseo.


VANACORE, DEBENEDICTUS, DIGOVANNI & WEDDELL L.L.P., an accounting firm with offices in Newburgh and Wappingers Falls, announced the following appointments.

CINDY CAVALLUCCI of Walden was appointed senior auditor in the audit department. Her most recent accounting experience was with Citigroup Inc.

JESSIE FRIEDMAN of Monticello was appointed junior accountant in the audit department. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from SUNY Oneonta.
